‘Government policies should focus on Printing Industry’
  • What is your assessment of the current situation of Printing Industry In India?
    • It is bound to grow as economy grows. The current growth is a reflection of the current economic situation in the country, but is better than many other Industry sectors.
  • What are your observation on the impact of liberalisation on this Industry?
    • Positive.
  • Do you suggest any measures to improve the status of this Industry?
    • This is a very important industry in view of employment generation. This should be more highlighted in Central policy.
  • How do you look at the future of this Industry?
    • Growing industry, because packaging is its infancy in India. It has to grow.
  • In the Printing Industry, how is Coates of India Limited, poised to retain its presence?
    • Coates will definitely retain the leadership position because of its technological and people strength.
  • What is the greatest achievement of your Company during the current financial year?
    • Our journey towards better and better quality was not affected by the economic slowdown.
  • Do the Government Policies support the growth of Printing Industry?
    • No direct benefit. As mentioned earlier, Government Policy should focus on this industry.
  • How do you see the market of Printing Industry in India, specially in West Bengal?
    • Overall growth in the country, but not too sure about West Bengal.
  • Can you mention some measure which are required to remove the difficulties faced by the Indian Companies related to this sector?
    • Be competitive like any other industry against local and international competition.
  • You have any observation on any other issues?
    • There is need for better training and skill development and hence the role of Printing Schools need to be looked into.
