Durgapur Chemicals Limited was incorporated in July, 1963 with high hopes for manufacturing basic Chemicals. It was expected that other chemical industries would grow up using the basic chemicals manufactured by DCL. The Company has taken a leap forward by acquiring 20 per cent successive growth over the last four years both in terms of production and sale. This is quite a significant achievement considering the global economic slow down coupled with threats of globalisation thereby leaving to cheap imports in bulk.
High standards of process technology (Professional Management and better industrial relations HRD etc) has led to improvement in yields, reduction in raw material consumption, energy saving and firm grip on pollution parameters.
DCL commands an enviable reputation in the market. Standing at the cross roads of the 21st century where strategic thinking and excellent planning skills play the basic role for global vision towards future, it is also planning to tie-up with global leaders in Japan and other countries to shift from its existing mercury to membrane cell technology for which efforts are already under its way. During 1998-99 DCL has introduced 2(two) new products namely stable Bleaching Powder and Bottled Hydrogen Gas and completed these projects in record 11 months and 4 months time respectively.
DCL intends to introducing 2 more products in the market in 1999-2000 DCB (para/ortho) and 1:2:4 TCB which has both export and domestic demand.
