52,000/- in the year 1960 –1961, today NBCC is a Rs. 4000 Million company
with a network of projects in India and abroad.
NBCC is one of the leading Construction
Companies in the world. NBCC has been ranked at 179th among top 225 international
contractors by ‘Engineering News Records’ a publication of Mc. Graw Hill
of USA, in its August, 2000 issue.
Ministry of Urban Development and
Bureau of Public Enterprises, Govt. of India, have ranked NBCC as “Excellent
Corporation” during the year 1996-97, 1997-98, and1998-99 as NBCC achieved
all the targets set in the MoU with the Ministry.
Activities of NBCC
NBCC is one of the largest Indian
Companies having to its credit completion of large value projects of diverse
nature such as Roads, Highways, Bridges, Flyovers, Subways, Townships,
Multi-storied Office Complexes, Hospitals, Hostels, Luxury Hotel Complexes,
Institutional Buildings, Schools, Universities, Industrial Structures,
Power Plants, Cement Plants, Chemical Complexes, Paper & Pulp Projects,
Fertilizer Plants, Refineries, Coal Handling and Ash Handling Plants, Pre-stressed
Concrete works, Oil Jetties, Pile foundations, Housing Complexes, Tall
RCC Chimneys Marine works, Water supply and Sewerage schemes, Infra-structural
Development works, T.V Towers, Railways Projects etc. The annual turnover
of NBCC is about Rs. 4000 million and NBCC has till date successfully executed

The Project Monitoring of all the
projects of NBCC is done by planning and programming with computerized
network based system. The software like primavera, sure track tools for
project monitoring is developed in-house keeping in view, specific requirements
of the project.

NBCC has its own in-house consultancy
division which is staffed with highly qualified and experience Architects,
Engineers, Structural & Services specialists NBCC Consultancy Wing
not only provides design and engineering input to the NBCC’s projects but

NBCC’s Performance in Recent Past
Turnover - has increased
from Rs. 310 crore in 2000-01 to Rs. 403 crore in 2001-02 registering a
growth of about 30%.
Net Profit - From Rs. 2.5
crore in 2000-01 to Rs. 3.7 crore in 2001-02 representing a growth of about
50%.
Order Book - has increased
from Rs. 620 as on 01-04-2002 to Rs. 800 crore as on 31-03-2002 a growth
of about 30%.
Realization of Closed Project Dues-
has increased from Rs. 10.4 crore in 2000-01 to Rs. 11.8 crore 2001-02
representing a growth of about 13%.
Enhancement of Equity - Paid
up share capital enhance from Rs. 111.65 crore as on 31-03-2002 to Rs.
120.00 crore as on 31-03-2002.
Improvement of Net Worth
– Net worth improved from negative Rs. 4.03 crore as on 31-03-2001 to Rs.
8 crore as on 31-03-2002.
Increase in Earning Per Share (EPS)-
EPS increased from Rs. 30.46 P during 2000-01 to Rs. 41.08 during 2001-02
(Share of Rs. 1000/-).
Reduction in Bank Borrowings
- Bank borrowings under cash credit limit has become nil as on 31-03-2002
as against Rs. 37.6 crore as on 31-03-2001 resulting in reduction in interest
burden of Rs. 6.00 crore per annum.
Improvement in USP - By adopting
pro-active and professional approach with the clients in solving day-to-day
problem for timely completion of the projects, the USP of the Corporation
has considerably improved with the result that client organizations are
approaching NBCC for construction of their projects.
Joint Venture - Formed Joint
Venture with:i) M/s Jamal Trading Company, Botswana to undertake infrastructure
Development Project in Botswana.ii) M/s Kollin Construction, Turkey for
taking up Highway projects of NHAI in India.iii) M/s IJM Corporation Berhad,
Malaysia for taking up Metro Railway Projects in India.
Large Value Projects Secured
(Economy of Scale and equitable distribution of overheads)· Ministry
of Defence projects valuing Rs. 467 crore at various locations spread all
over India.· MOUD & PA Projects valuing Rs. 250 crore pertaining
to the development of North East States.· NTPC Projects valuing
Rs. 100 crore for Rihand STPP (Rs. 70 Cr.) and Ramagundam STPP (Rs. 30
Cr.)· PMO & MPLADS Projects valuing Rs. 80 crore for rehabilitation
of School Buildings, Primary Health Centres, Community Hall etc. in the
Earth Quake Affected Regional of Gujarat.
