  • Biju Krishak Vikas Yojana for creating irrigation potential in 23,840 ha. of land at an estimated cost of Rs.1,000 cr. implemented in the State. Under this scheme, Pani Panchayats have been entrusted with the maintenance of canals.

  • 2,847 Pani Panchayats out of 5,619 already registered have been handed over to the users. Farmers willing to form “Pani Panchayat” and to take the responsibility of these projects shall be provided Rs.3,000/- as advanced electricity tariff and Rs.5000/- towards repair and maintenance of the project through the Collector from drought assistance fund.

  • ‘Kalinga Kishan Silver Card’ scheme has been introduced for the welfare of farmers.
  • Under Drinking Water Supply Programme in rural areas, Rs.48/- per month as water-tax with deposit amount of Rs.1000/-for domestic purpose and Rs.96/- per month with deposit amount of Rs.3000/- for commercial and institutional purposes have been fixed.

  • Infant Mortality Reduction Mission has been formed to reduce infant mortality rate in the State. Medicines are being provided free of cost for medical treatment of the post-natal women and newborn baby.

  • Steps have been taken to convert 157 P.H .Cs into Community Health Centres for providing better health services in rural areas.

  • From the new year, women coming to the health centres for safe delivery are being provided with conveyance allowances @ Rs.150/- within 10 kms. and Rs.200/- for more than 10 kms.

  • For better health care of the mothers and children in the urban slum areas, a Special Health Service Programme has been started in 5 cities: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Rourkela.

  • 63,500 new women’s SHGs is have been formed under Mission Shakti with around 8,20,000 members generating savings amounting to Rs.23 crores.
  • 15,000 new women’s SHGs provided Rs.31 of institutional credit.
  • Swayamsiddha - a women’s empowerment programme operationalized in 36 blocks in KBK districts.
  • Coverage of old, infirm and destitute persons under Emergency Feeding Programme in KBK districts enhanced from 75,045 to 2,00,000.

  • The target under the National Old Age Pension (NOAP) scheme has been increased by 1,50,000 beneficiaries for the State bringing the total coverage to 4,93,400.

  • Coverage under Orissa Disability Pension Scheme enhanced by 30,000 bringing the total coverage of disabled persons to 1,00,000.

  • 1,26,650 girl children have been benefited under the Balika Samriddhi Yojana (BSY) scheme at total cost of Rs.633.25 lakh.

  • A comprehensive Public Enterprises Reform Programme taken up with the objective of enhancing efficiency and reducing fiscal burden.

  • The activities of Watershed Mission have been extended to Gajapati, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and the K.B.K. districts.

  • Beneficiaries under Antyodaya Anna Yojana are being supplied with 35 kg rice per card. Under this scheme, 5,05,500 families are benefited.

  • Children under 6 years of age, pregnant and women below poverty line during their post delivery period are being provided with additional nutritious food daily through Anganwadi centres.

  • During the current financial year, 30,540 BPL families have been alloted houses at a cost of Rs.5,020.86 lakh under Indira Awas Yojana.

  • Under Indira Awas Yojana, 4,73,154 additional houses have been constructed at a cost of Rs.1,04,961.90 lakh in the cyclone and flood ravaged areas.

  • 18,179 beneficiaries have been self-employed at an investment of Rs.2003. 46 lakh through Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojagar Yojana.

  • Under Sampurna Gramina Rojagar Yojana, 297.5 lakh mandays have been generated utilizing an amount of Rs.177.45 crore by the end of December 2002.

  • During the current financial year, 490 primary school buildings have been constructed under Operation Black Board scheme.

  • Computer Education has been introduced in 110 Government High Schools.
  • A Vegetable Oil Refinary Project at Paradip is being set up by M/s Kargil India Pvt. Ltd. at a cost of Rs.195 crore.
  • Ekamra Haat (Urban Haat) has been established at Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar with a view to promote Orissan art, craft, culture and cuisine and provide direct marketing access to artisans, weavers and craft persons.

  • Raghurajpur is being developed as a model for Rural Tourism in India.
  • Second International Gateway at Software Technology Park of India, Bhubaneswar has been installed to provide 100% reliable service to the industries.
  • 7827 Swechha Sevi Sikhya Sahayak (SSS) has been engaged in U.P Schools.
  • Under Sarba Shikhya Abhiyan, Rs.3,1500,000 for 14 non-DPEP and Rs.540,000/- for 16 DPEP districts have been released.
  • 369 forty seated hostels have been opened in KBK district in convergence with ST & SC Department.
  • Arrangements have been made by National Backward Classes Financial Development Corporation for sanction of loan for the economic development of the backward classes. 1,841 beneficiaries including 126 women have become self- dependant under this scheme.

  • The foundation of Eastern Railway Zone headquarters has been laid at Bhubaneswar.
